Break the Myths and Achieve Big

In the recent networking programs that I was part of since a few months , I could hear a lot of FAQs and NFAQs being discussed on the areas that I’m working on or connected with. Hence coming up with a series titled Breaking Myths BeyondChatGPT(BMB) with Rajini.

I’ll begin the series with “Cloud Career.” Along with the ChatGPT prompts, I’ll attempt to break down some of the most common myths about cloud careers. These are beyond ChatGPT prompts :)

Cloud computing has been one of the most significant technological developments over the last decade, and it has rapidly transformed how organizations conduct business. Despite its growth and widespread adoption, several myths and misconceptions surround a career in cloud computing.

Myth #1: A Career in Cloud Computing is Only for Tech Experts

Many people believe you need to be a tech genius or have a computer science degree to work in cloud computing. However, this is not true. While technical knowledge is beneficial, many cloud computing jobs require project management, marketing, sales, and customer service skills.

Myth #2: Cloud Computing is Only for Startups and Tech Companies

Although startups and tech companies have embraced cloud computing, it is not limited to these organizations. Many large finance, healthcare, and retail companies are migrating their data to the cloud. As a result, there is a growing demand for cloud computing professionals in these industries.

Myth #3: Cloud Computing is Just About Managing Servers

While cloud computing does involve managing servers, it’s much more than that. Cloud computing includes a wide range of services such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Function-as-a-Service(FaaS), Container-as-a-service(CaaS)++++++. Additionally, cloud computing involves managing and securing data, developing cloud-based applications, and optimizing cloud services to meet business needs.

Myth #4: Cloud Computing is Not Secure, and so is my job

There are concerns about the security of cloud computing, but the truth is that cloud computing can be as secure as any other computing environment. Cloud service providers have developed a range of security measures to protect their clients’ data. Additionally, many cloud computing jobs focus on cloud security, including threat analysis, vulnerability management, and compliance.

Myth #5: Cloud Computing is Only for Younger Professionals

The idea that cloud computing is only for younger professionals is another myth. Many cloud computing professionals come from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. Cloud computing is a rapidly growing field, and there is a high demand for skilled professionals, meaning there is no age limit for a career in cloud computing.

Myth #6: Cloud computing is just a fad that will fade away soon.

Cloud computing is not a fad but is here to stay. Many businesses are moving to the cloud to maximize scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. Cloud computing has become an essential component of modern IT infrastructure and is used by companies of all sizes, from small startups to large enterprises.

Myth #7: You need to be an expert in coding to have a career in cloud computing.

While having a solid understanding of programming languages is certainly helpful, it is not a prerequisite for a career in cloud computing. Cloud computing involves many roles, including project management, system administration, security, and data analysis. You can build a successful cloud career without having extensive coding skills.

Myth #8: There are no job opportunities in cloud computing as AI will take over soon.

Cloud computing is a rapidly growing field with many job opportunities. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and information technology employment is projected to grow by 11% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. The increasing adoption of cloud computing largely drives this growth.

Myth #9 : Survey shows top paid CSP certifications in shocking $$s, but even after my certifications, I don’t see even a year’s salaries adding upto it.

Surveys will be done only on Samples and averages out the sample. Reality is always different based on geo location, projects , domain experiences and the criticality of the project.

Myth #10 : I need to know all clouds to prove myself.

You can choose Jack of All, Master of None or Master of One . As this field is ever-changing, you need to adapt for quick learn, unlearn, relearn!

In conclusion, there are many myths surrounding cloud computing careers. Still, the reality is that it is a diverse and growing field with opportunities for professionals of all backgrounds and skill sets.
